Nova Website Guidelines

Our design team strives to deliver websites that meet our clients needs while adhere to best practices and platform capabilities. To ensure clear and effective collaboration, it's important to understand what our designers can and cannot do. This guide outlines specific guidelines and limitations for the Nova website platform. 

Page Limits

✅ 1 popup per page

✅ Blog pages store up to 1500 blogs

Images/Video/Music/Audo

✅ Up to 15,000 TOTAL files per site

✅ Up to 100 videos can be uploaded per site

✅ We will need permission to use any suspected copyrighted imagery/work

✅ Facebook image migration (images must come from 1 account and must be in order)

✅ We can accept images attached to the ticket, or provided through a Google Drive link

Allow File Types

.pdf, .xls, .xslx, .doc, .docx, .zip, .ppt, .pptx, ,psd, .txt, .xml, .mp3

❌ File size cannot exceed 200MB

❌ Spaces within file names are not supported

❌ We do not sort through images

❌ We will not add watermarks

❌ We will not add alt text to images unless provide or specified to use NOVA AI tool to write it

Photo Gallery Resolutions Sizes

Any resolution, but not larger than 1500px for page speed.

Favicon

✅ Required aspect ratio: 1:1

✅ Allowed resolution sizes (px): 24x24, 36x36, 48x48

Forms

✅ NOVA forms are secured

✅ For custom forms ( anything besides the contact or review forms) We need the client's email (leave blank if they are using the same email in the business information), all form fields, and where specifically they would like the form placed on the site.

❌ We do NOT migrate step by step forms that require us to enter information; any form inputs the client would like need to be specified and supplied.

❌ File upload field is limited to 10MB attachments

❌ No conditional logic

Supported files

pdf, .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .zip, .ppt, .pptx, .psd, .txt, .xml, .mp3, .ttf, .otf, .woff, .eot, .svg, .odt, .ott, .js, .css, .png, .jpg, .gif, .jpeg, .rar (and all video file formats)

Design

✅ Google Fonts are the only font valid across all browsers

❌ Cannot do extensive homepage structural changes. This falls under a redesign ticket.

Testimonials

✅ 30 most recent reviews max will be migrated from given URL

❌ No filtering for duplicates

❌ Reviews without content will not be migrated

Buttons

✅ Adding floating buttons on a TSApp-enabled site is on a case-by-case basis

✅ Limit is 2 Standard (Bottom Right) Floating Buttons, IF client is not TSApp enabled

✅ Limit is 5 Stacked Floating Review Buttons.

Content

✅ We can edit content in the following scenarios:

✅ GEO/NAPH info replaced (city/state, phone)

✅ Changing business name

✅ Changing global identifiers (ex. I to We)

✅ Replacing specific phrases (ex. one service text replaced with another)

✅ Removing specific phrases (ex. removing a certain staff member from content)

❌ Unable to write/rewrite any content

SEO

✅ and surrounding areas

✅ and the X area

✅ and the X metro

✅ and the [regional terms, like the Magic Valley, Quad Cities, Tri-Cities, etc.]

❌ addition of any cities, multiple metros, counties, regional designations (these can be placed on. a service area page or map not in the content)

Third Parties

✅ We can embed the following feeds: Instagram, Facebook, Podcasts (Apple Music, Spotify)

✅ We can embed the following videos: YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Facebook

✅ We can also add trackers/pixels. Please reach out to leadership for more details

✅ Disclaimer: We are able to embed other third-party widgets. Please see leadership for more details

❌ Not authorized to log into any third-party website due to liability reasons

❌ Broken widgets should be deleted or hidden and then escalated to leadership

❌ Google translate

Service Area Maps

✅ Anything up 25 locations

✅ Mile radius' need a starting point and distance (I.E. Charlotte, NC - 20 mile)

❌ Anything over 25 locations will need client confirmation that this will dilute SEO efforts

Menus

✅ Formats that we accept: PDF's, Word Docs, or RTF's that content can be copied and pasted from

✅ We can upload a provided jpeg, pdf, or document of the menu to the site

✅ We'll need a copyable document of the menu that doesn't require transcribing( word doc)

✅ If the menu is needing to be transcribed and no copy pastable can be provided, please submit an extensive ticket for this request

❌ We do not accept the following formats:

❌ Handwritten menus

❌ Any menu exceeding 2 pages for transcription, must go through leadership prior to submitting a ticket for us to determine the best course of action.

Product Pages/Catalogs

DISCLAIMER: Any scenario that could require sustaining products on a website should go through leadership

✅ We can add a photo grid with captions of product

✅ 4 pages max with 100 images per page

❌ No individual product pages

Logos

✅ Flaticon Graphics ONLY

✅ Google Font text

✅ Logos provided by the client that require edits is on a case-by-case basis

❌ Cannot use our Shutterstock library

❌ No custom graphics

❌ Icons come as is with color adjustments only

Badges

✅ Accepted badges with code: BBB, Angie's, Home Advisors, etc.

❌ BBB badges submitted with just the image and without the code will put on hold until we can recieve the code for the badge
